Top Ten For Breakfast Key West

I normally don’t eat breakfast, probably because I hate preparing it. But I love going out to a good breakfast. Here are my favorite Key West haunts, in no particular order.

  1. Croissants de France: You can grab a cappuccino and a croissant or a day old pastry to go from the counter if you are in a hurry or you can eat a full breakfast (or lunch or dinner for that matter) at the pretty little outdoor setting. I almost much always get the Americana, but that is only because I don’t want to go into sugar shock with their filled crepes which are amazing. And a bonus for me is that Indiana Bones can dine here too; he usually orders himself a plate of crispy bacon.
  2. Banana Cafe: The crepes here are to die for. Definitely my favorite thing on the menu. But the eggs benedict is fantastic as well. They are also opened for lunch and dinner.
  3. Camille’s: Famous for their breakfast, although they have a great lunch and dinner selection too, Camille’s serves huge omelets, pancakes, and waffles. You have to try Denise’s breakfast specials, which are rich and exotic. I love the banana rum french toast when she has that on the menu! Yummy! Also, the mimosas and bloody mary’s are amazing here! You may need help walking out of here when you are done consuming!
  4. Little Palm Island: An all time favorite for special occasions. The Sunday brunch is amazing. You have to drive to Little Torch Key, about a 20 minute drive from Key West, and take their ferry to the island. Reservations are mandatory and the food and the service are both amazing. But you get what you pay for!
  5. Sunset Key’s Latitude’s: Take the ferry from the Westin to Sunset Key for a wonderful breakfast on the beach. I love the eggs benedict here, but the pancakes and everything else are amazing as well. And service is top notch.
  6. Sarabeth’s: This is homestyle food done upscale. Food and service are great. Try the lemon ricotta pancakes for a twist on the traditional. Lunch and dinner are also wonderful here!
  7. Blue Heaven: If you want to eat breakfast here, make reservations! Otherwise you will be waiting, possibly for hours. This famous spot also does lunch and dinner, but breakfast is the real gem. They have amazing eggs benedict, island style, as well as several other delicious times. And if you do forget reservations, you can always wait at the bar and have a mimosa or two or three.
  8. Six Toed Cat: Located next toe the Hemingway House, you can usually get in here without a wait. But the food is great! The stuffed french toast is sooo delicious. And the eggs are prepared perfectly. Sit inside or on the patio and people watch.
  9. Goldman’s Deli: While Goldman’s serves all different types of breakfast items, what you really want to order from a Jewish deli are bagels and lox! When I am feeling homesick for NJ I come here and grab a bite.
  10. Starbucks: Okay, so lots of people are not Starbuck’s fans, including my husband, but I am. Located at the La Concha, you can walk in and grab a cup of Joe along with a pastry or one of their new breakfast items.

Key West Restaurant Review: Six Toed Cat

Most people know the tale of Hemingway and his six toed cats, descendants which still roam the grounds of his Key West home. Well right next door to the Hemingway Home and Museum on Whitehead Street is a cute little eatery called the Six Toed Cat. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available as well as a small retail shop that sells Six Toed Cat souvenirs like mugs and tee-shirts. The outside of the building is a cute white conch style house and the inside is wide open with colorful island decor.
