My friends Mark and Cathy are always raving about breakfast here when they come and visit. So, as I was strolling around downtown the is past weekends with my husband and our friends, we decided to pop in here for a bite to eat for dinner. Harpoon Harry’s is located on Caroline Street, just across from the Historic Seaport. It is a diner of sorts, with a bar and an eclectic decor inside that reminded me a bit of Camille’s. I have to say that right off the bat I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. And we could easily people watch from the booth by the window that we were seated at.
I ordered the Grouper Tacos special, my husband ordered the Grouper Sandwich, and our friends both ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. We also got an order of onion rings to start.
The onion rings were perfectly prepared and delicious. We asked if they had any dipping sauce, and while they did not have anything specifically for this appetizer, the server did bring us a dijon sauce that tasted good with the rings.
The Grouper Tacos and the Grouper Sandwich were both served with fries, which were crispy and delicious. The fish was not bad, although I am quite sure that it was not actually grouper. We were warned by our waitress, who incidentally was very nice, that the fish was “frozen fresh.”
The Buffalo Chicken Wraps were a little boring, not as spicy as expected, but was hoped slightly with a side of blue cheese dressing. Only wish that the dressing was homemade.
If you are downtown and looking for a quick bite to eat with friendly service, I recommend, especially for breakfast or maybe desserts which we did not order but they looked decadent on the counter.
