Yesterday, my husband and I had an appointment in Islamorada, so on the way back home to Key West we decided to stop and get a bite to eat. I noticed awhile back on one of my drives through the Keys that there was a Bad Boy Burrito next to the Trading Post. This was my chance to try it out. I always did like the one in Key West. And while that one sold to new owners, Bad Boy Burrito in Islamorada is run by the original owners.
Pull in at the Trading Post and you will see to the rear a little area called Village Square. The foliage and brick walkways are so beautiful and make for a tranquil escape from US1. There are a few shops here as well as Bad Boy Burrito and Cafe Moka.
We walked up to the window and both of us ordered an oven roasted chicken burrito with pico de gallo and water. We also ordered chips and guacamole to get started. The girl working out front was super friendly and she obviously loved her job and the restaurant. We walked over to the covered seating and she brought over our food as it became ready.
At first, my husband was not happy about eating outside, but when he realized what a relaxing atmosphere they had, he too relaxed and enjoyed the setting and the food. And, all of the foliage made it very cool and comfortable in the heat of the Florida Keys.
The Food
I tucked into my burrito immediately, and it was very tasty. The tortilla was filled with rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, shaved cabbage, cilantro, and chicken. YUM! The chips and guac were also very good. Just the right amount of salt on the chips that were heavy enough to scoop up the delicious, chunky guacamole.
Besides burritos, BBB also serves us salads, sushi, and tacos. Whether you are in the mood for chicken, fish, beef, pork, shrimp, or veggies, they serve it here. They also have an inside bar to sit and enjoy a drink and some grub.
As an added bonus, there is a marina directly behind Bad Boy Burrito. Being in the charter industry, my husband is always happy to be surrounded by boats and check out these places. And this particular marina was the one where they filmed scenes from Bloodline! So, add that to your Florida Keys Bloodline tour.
At the end of the meal, we both decided that this might become a regular lunch or early dinner spot for us when driving through Islamorada. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food were amazing. We highly recommend stopping by here if driving through on your way to Key West. Bad Boy Burrito Islamorada is open Monday through Saturdays.
