I was feeling like I needed a little something to satisfy my sweet tooth this morning. So, my friend Abi and I hopped into my car and headed to down to Eaton Street to Glazed Donuts. This Southernmost donut shop has been open since 2012, offering an array of different donuts, all made fresh in house.
We both ordered coffees and then we picked out three different donuts to share. It was a tough choice, as there are so many original flavors to choose from in addition to the more traditional options such as glazed and jelly. But, we went finally with the banana cake with salted caramel, brown butter hazelnut, and apple almond fritter. We sat at one of the tables enjoying the air conditioning as we waited for our order, watching as the donuts and coffees were prepared with care.
When our order was up, we brought it back to the table and tucked in. The banana cake donut was my favorite of the three. The banana flavor was noticeable, as was a hint of nutmeg. Abi’s favorite was the brown butter hazelnut which had a super sweet icing topped with chopped hazelnuts. Again, this was delicious. The apple fritter, being the most traditional choice we made, was delicious as well.
The Red Buoy coffee that is roasted in house was not my favorite. My cappuccino was very sharp and bitter, even after asking for a little extra milk. Maybe adding some sugar would have helped, but the donuts were sugary enough. That said, I still enjoyed the experience and the donuts very much.

More About Key West
If you are looking for some yummy donuts that go beyond what you can get from Dunkin’ Donuts in both quality and flavors, this is a great stop. I have to say that I did smell like a bakery for the rest of the day after being here, so if that is going to bother you, get your donuts to go.
If you do happen to like a stronger coffee, you can find Red Buoy Coffee at some of Old Town Key West’s most popular restaurants including Blue Heaven and Banana Cafe. And, you can order it online as well.
