Famous Key West recipes that you can do at home and have a feel like you are still in Key West and the tropics. A small collection of some of the recipes I enjoy whipping up.
Here are some of my favorite recipes for traditional Key West style fare. You don’t have to be in Key West to have a tropical treat. Some of the following recipes are signature dishes from others and there are even a few of my own island style versions of old favorites and some originals.
Conch Chowder – A local keys favorite. Probably orriginally from the Bahamas like many of the long time Conch families of Key West
Island Genn’s Fried Grouper Bites – One of my orriginal dishes. Can be used with grouper or cobia
Grouper Bechamel – I create my own béchamel sauce for this sautéed fish dish. Can be used with grouper, snapper or any other preffered fish.. The sauce makes this dish..
Shrimp & Lobster Pot Pie – Everyone will want to be at this dinner.
Lobster Mac and Cheese – Done right this is an amazing treat and goes with anything.
Island Genn’s Wahoo Salad – A little salad I like to whip up after smoking some wahoo caught by my husband on his deep sea charter boat the INXS. He says it’s phenomenal.
Island Genn’s Smoked Fish Dip – Everyone has their own version of fish dip. Here is mine. I typically use smoked Kingfish.
Key Lime Pie – Everyone has one of these recipes in their arsenal.. I think mine is the best.
Lower Keys Granola Bars – Easy and a tasty healthy treat for the boat or road trips
Key Lime Coconut Banana Bread – We have all heard of banana bread, this one is pretty special.
