Top ten Key West restaurant list is a tough one to compile. Everyone who is in the business of breakfast does a pretty good job. So I think for me, it comes down to specialty / daily dishes, service and of course atmosphere. Places that capture the relaxation and pleasures that carry the Key West tropical feel. Breakfast places where if I was on vacation in Key West, I would want to visit.
Banana Cafe: Right on Duval Street, this cute French restaurant has captured the Key West vibe. Shaded seating on upstairs patio that is great for people watching and comfortable inside tables as well.
The crepes here are to die for. Definitely my favorite thing on the menu. I enjoy the eggs Benedict as well. Their mimosas are large and yummy!
Breakfast is BUSY here, so get there early or enjoy the line. This is one of my go to favorites here in Key West.
La Te Da: Located right on Duval Street with a fabulous tropical atmosphere and an airy Caribbean feel. Spacious poolside covered seating. Intimate settings for couples or larger tables for groups. Service has always been impeccable. Even on our hot days this breakfast nook stays cool.
If great food, drinks and service is on the agenda, then this is your spot! I love the many choices of mimosas and other drinks available.
My husband loves to come here for special occasions. We visit often.
Sarabeth’s: Located a block off of Duval Street on Simonton Street, this converted house oozes Key West charm. With indoor our outdoor seating, you can be comfortable in a conditions. And, you can bring your well behaved put to join you outside if you wish.
The food is what I would describe as upscale homestyle. And, both the food and service are great. Try the lemon ricotta pancakes for a twist on the traditional.
Lunch and dinner are also wonderful here!
Blue Heaven: Located on Petronia Street, this property has a lot of local history tied to it. If you want to eat breakfast here, be prepared to wait, possibly for hours. There is rustic seating inside and out, making it uniquely Key West.
This famous spot also does lunch and dinner, but breakfast is the real gem. They have amazing eggs Benedict, island style, as well as several other delicious times.
This is a place that everyone should try at least once when in Key West.
Latitude’s at Sunset Key: Breakfast lovers, you can only get here by boat. Take the ferry from the Opal Resort to Sunset Key for a wonderful breakfast on the beach.
I love the eggs Benedict here, but the pancakes and everything else are amazing as well. And service is top notch (usually).
This is really a place for a special occasion as reservations are necessary and hard to come by.
Harpoon Harry’s: Located on Caroline Street, this is a quirky Key West favorite serving up yummy diner style comfort food.
It gets busy here, so come early to enjoy a a fast paced breakfast. Or, come later in the day when it slows down a bit as they serve breakfast all day!
This is a locals favorite spot. Keep in mind that they only accept cash.
Pepe’s Cafe Key West: Located on Caroline Street, this is Key West’s oldest restaurant. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while taking in history! while seated inside or outside on a covered porch.
Their breakfast dishes are all delicious, but they are mainly know for their omelettes. Oh, and they make a mean Bloody Mary too!
Enjoying breakfast at this historical Key West restaurant should not be missed.
Ocean Grill: Located in Duval Square, this eatery serves breakfast seven days a week from 10am until 3pm. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.
Breakfast offerings are everything from the usual pancakes and eggs to seafood delights like crab cake Benedict. Service has always been good here.
And the best part is that you can enjoy bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s for under $10!
Key Plaza Creperie – This relaxed bistro is located in New Town in Key Plaza. They serve up delicious breakfast options with gourmet coffee and teas from open to close.
It can get a little loud in here, but service has always been good. I love their breakfast sandwich served on a pretzel roll and accompanied by fingerling potatoes and a yummy homemade chipotle sauce.
If you are staying in New Town, this is a great choice for breakfast or lunch.
Moon Dog Cafe: Located on Whitehead Street just next to the Hemingway House and Museum. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
Their extensive breakfast menu has so many yummy options to choose from. But perhaps one of my favorite things is getting a delicious croissant from their bakery.
Very Key West feel in a pretty part of downtown. Get there early this place fills fast.
