I have been to La Te Da many times in the past for a drink at the bar with friends, but in all of the years that I have lived in the Florida Keys, I have never had a meal at the restaurant. I decided that my birthday breakfast with the crew would be at the restaurant at La Te Da this year. A group of eight of us met out front at 8:30am on Saturday. There is a sign letting diners know to seat themselves so we walked out by the pool where the seating was more plentiful, yet covered so that it was comfortable for a sunny, August day. We immediately found a table that could accommodate us and we sat down into the comfy chairs.
The atmosphere was very tropical and relaxing with white table cloths, and the staff were very professional. Once we were seated, menus were brought to us and shortly after drink orders were taken. Mimosas and coffee for all! It was a celebration after all! The drink menu was nice, with a variety of mimosas and other options to choose from. The food menu also had a ton a great options and I was having difficulty deciding what to go with.
Eventually, I decided to go with eggs Benedict with bacon rather than ham. A few of the crew went with pancakes, eggs and other breakfast favorites.
I have to say that all of the food that I sampled was really delicious. My eggs Benedict was perfect, the eggs were cooked just right, runny in the center without the whites being undercooked. And the bacon was nice and crisp as well. The pancakes were yummy, and my husband declared them to be the best in Key West. The breakfast potatoes were so tender and tasty with caramelized onions. And the coffee was great too! I think I may have overdosed on caffein that morning as the coffee kept flowing.
Everyone there enjoyed their food and drink immensely, and this may be our new favorite place for breakfast! I cannot wait to go back to try the french toast and the biscuits and gravy which were also top contenders for my meal choice.
Breakfast for the eight of us was about $200, not bad when considering the atmosphere, service, and food quality were all top notch. Plus we just about all got an alcoholic drink.
