Camille’s, Key West

Locals flock to Camille’s daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although the restaurant is probably most well known for the amazing breakfast specials that they offer and their mean Bloody Mary’s (hope you like horseradish, a lot!).

You cannot miss Camille’s’s pink facade, located on Simonton Street.  Upon entering, the space feels very homey and a little dated, and the decor is definitely eclectic. Photos of famous people from the past like Monroe and Sinatra hang on the walls, Barbie dolls hang from nooses, and ceramic pigs are humping. It is pretty much everything that you expect from a funky Key West eatery.

But one does not come here for the atmosphere. They come here for the food which offers both comfort and flair. I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, but I have to say that breakfast is indeed my favorite. Camille’s offers egg dishes galore including several delicious Benedict’s and omelets with fillings from cheese to lobster. But my absolute favorites are on the sweeter side. French toast with Godiva white chocolate sauce, and buttermilk pancakes with Capt. Morgan Spiced Rum bananas Foster sauce. Need I say more?

One thing that I really like about Camille’s is that the owner Denise is often on property making sure that things are running smoothly. This is probably why I have never had a bad meal here. The other thing that I love is the constant innovative specials that they offer. For instance, I recently had the swordfish special which was amazing, if you like swordfish that is. The sauces that accompany practically each dish are all freshly made on site. And for those with special dietary needs, the chef is happy to provide Atkins and vegetarian options too.

The service at Camille’s is friendly, although rushed at times due to the high volume of people that push through the restaurant at peak meal times. And the tables are a bit small, especially for those that are not vertically challenged like myself.
