Key West – Pirates in Paradise

Starting on November 24th and running through December 4th, is the 12 Annual Pirates in Paradise festival celebrating Key West’s “colorful maritime history.” Historic walking tours, bazaar markets, storytelling competitions, and many more activities will be a part of this event. Event Schedule of Events:

Daily

10:00am-10:00pm – PIRATE VILLAGE MARKET, ART FAIR, CARNIVAL & RIDES, LIVE MUSIC & DANCING, PIRATE PUB & VIP AREA at the Truman Waterfront, Features: food, craft beers, period arts & crafts, sword fights, Kid’s Area, games of chance & piratical antics! Adults: $5, Kids under 12 FREE. VIP Pass: $20 – gets FREE Admission daily & access to PIP VIP (very important pirate) areas.

PIRATE PUB STROLLS & PIRATE WALKING TOURS of Old Town with Key West Buccaneers. Bring to life the heroic age of piracy.  Stroll the streets of Old Town & visit famous taverns & watering holes of Cayo Hueso.

TALL SHIP PIRATE SAILS aboard Schooner WOLF…Flagship of the Conch Republic. Join the the scurvy WOLF crew for adventure on the high seas (sails departing 1:30 & 4:30pm daily.) Adults: $50/$25 Kids under 12.

Thanksgiving (Nov. 24)

1:00pm – KID’S PIRATE COSTUME CONTEST at the PIP Pirate Village Stage at Truman Waterfront Commons. Pint-sized pirates can don their garb & show off their swashbuckling costumes. FREE.

1:30pm & 4:30pm – TALL SHIP PIRATE SAILS aboard WOLF. Join the scurvy crew for adventure on the high seas. Adults: $50, $25 kids under 12 (board ½ hour before departure.)

2:00pm-5:00pm –  THANKSTAKEN PIRATE’S HOLIDAY PARTY & FEAST catered by Faustos at the Truman Waterfront. Live music featuring the KeyRazy Band and Pirates in Paradise crew! Party FREE with Festival admission, FEAST tickets $35 Adults & $20 Kids under 12 (includes Pirate Village VIP Pass, PIP Bandana & Booty and Carnival Ride Ticket.) Reservations required. 4:30-5:30pm – Literature & the Sea SUNSET HAPPY HOUR at The Top, Crowne Plaza La Concha with author & historian Robert N. Macomber. Enjoy a toast to the island’s fabulous sunset atop this historic landmark, 430 Duval.

7:00pm – Key West Maritime Historical Society presents FREE presentation by Robert N. Macomber: GROG…A Drinking Story, Top of Crowne Plaza La Concha, 430 Duval. Join Bob for an entertaining talk on toasts from around the world.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

10:00am-Noon – HISTORIC WALKING TOUR of Old Town Key West with author Bob Macomber brings to life the Key West of days gone by. Tour departs promptly at 10am from Crowne Plaza La Concha, 430 Duval Street (meet in the lobby at 9:45am.) Cost: $25.

4:30pm – TALL SHIP PIRATE SAIL aboard WOLF with Admiral Finbar, Robert Macomber and the PIP pirate crew.  Adults: $50, $25 kids under 12 (board ½ hour before.)

6:30pm-8:30pm – EL MESON de PEPE’S LITERATURE & THE SEA CARIBBEAN PIRATES FEAST at Mallory Square. Join Authors, Historians, Artists and the PIP crew for this festive Caribbean Feast, 411 Wall Street. Adults: $20 (Kids under 12 $10.)

NOON-4:00pm – Conch Republic Navy SHOOT & SAIL, aboard Schooner WOLF, is open to all qualified marksmen. Live fire, traditional weapons encouraged.  Participants may also shoot several antique & historic military weapons from around the world, $75. Reservations required.

5:00pm-10:00pm – MISS PIRATE KEY WEST PAGEANT & ROCK & ROLL DANCE PARTY HOSTED BY HOEBEE at PIP Pirate Village Main Stage.  Dance to the Lounge Lizards and Beatles tribute band, Across the Universe. 5:00pm-10:00pm – BIG BAND SWING & SALSA PARTY & TRIBUTE TO ‘QUEEN OF SWING’ BIRTHDAY GIRL NORMA MILLER at the Truman Waterfront Pirate Village.  Admiral Finbar & his wife Blossom invite you to join them for a night of dancing under the stars to Mike Emerson’s Southernmost Brass Swing Band & Reuben Morgan’s Lounge Lizards…and special guest, birthday girl ‘Queen of Swing’ Norma Miller (who’s turns 92 years young!)  Groups welcome!

Noon – Pyrates of the Coast 7th Annual WALK THE PLANK National Champion ships aboard the WOLF at Truman Waterfront’s Pirate Village. Victims (hush, contestants) vie for the honor and glory of becoming the 2011 Champion as they dive to their watery graves, pleading for their miserable lives and competing for valuable prizes. 2:00pm – 2nd Annual International Pirate’s Hall of Fame TALL TALES INVITATIONAL at PIP Pirate Village offers all contestants the chance to tell their biggest fabricated story before a panel of nationally known authors serving as judges. FREE!

3:30pm – PIRATE ART ‘COLOR ALONG’ with Pirate Artist Don Maitz at the Village Thieves’ Market at the Truman Waterfront Commons Pirate artists of all ages are invited to ‘Color Along’ with master fantasy artist Don. Everyone is provided the same sketch and a pack of crayons. FREE!

4:00pm – YOUNG WRECKERS – THE MUSICAL presented by Key West’s Children’s Chorus of Unity of the Florida Keys takes you back in time to the glory days of the Key West wreckers with stories and songs, PIP Pirate Village Stage. FREE with Pirate Village Admission.

7:00pm – Key West LIGHTED HOLIDAY PARADE. Family-friendly parade with plenty of swashbuckling Pirates! Begins at Bay View Park and follows Truman to Duval to Greene Street.
