Kaya Island Eats | Restaurant Review

My first review of Kaya’s was written shortly after the restaurant opened, and owner Scott Taylor told me at the time that he had a few things to improve on still. Well, I can say that he has definitely done that! Kaya is now my favorite restaurant in the area. The decor is airy and islandy and fun, and the addition of some noise absorbing panels along with the dismissal of the live entertainment has vastly improved upon the dining experience here. Unfortunately the building acoustics are not very good in the building, but Scott has still been able to ensure a pleasant atmosphere for diners here. And the water front view is not bad either.

Now on to more important things, like the food. Every meal that I have had here is tasty and beautifully presented. Some of my favorites include the Coconut Macadamia Nut Encrusted Catch, the Cherryaki Chicken, the Island Style Roast Pork, and the No Worries Shrimp Curry. The rice and seasonal veggies are done to perfection. The conch chowder is still OUT OF THIS WORLD! The salads are light and delicious. The Key Lime Pie is the BEST I have ever had, bar none, and the coffee is the perfect cup of Joe. Nice job Scott!

The last thing that I need to mention is that the service here has been impeccable on every visit. That is something that I cannot say for many places, especially in the Keys. I think that a lot of this has to do with Scott being a constant presence at the restaurant, always working and setting a great example for his crew. That makes for a dedicated team.
