Key West Restaurant Review: Vito’s Piazza

We had a lunch meeting here yesterday and I was excited because I have been looking forward to trying this place out for a while now. When it first opened about 6 months ago they had a very basic menu, so I wanted to wait to eat here until they were ready to go and that they are.

Vito’s is located at 1019 White Street in the same plaza as Dog 30 (my favorite pet store). They serve up Old World style Italian Cuisine. Yes they have subs and pizzas, but they also have really great entrees that are so much more than what you get at a traditional pizza place.

And the seating area is really very cool. They have a small inside dining area that is decorated nicely with what seems to be pretty high quality furnishings and not the typical pizza place booths. But we ate outside which had tables with umbrellas and other tables under a small awning, a nice bar, and astroturf so that it seems like you are on a grassy area without all of the mowing and maintenance.

The waiter was on top of everything the entire time. We were never wanting for water or anything. He brought us warm bread from the oven when we got there with olive oil and butter. It was yummy. We then ordered calamari to start. It was cooked to perfection. Next, my husband got a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and bacon (his favorite). OMG! I took a bite and it was probably the best pizza I have ever had in Key West. I got the chicken marsala which was a large piece of chicken cooked perfectly served over linguine; the chicken was delicious and the pasta was done al dente, but I did not eat that since I did not need the carbs after having a piece of bread. Our friends got salads that looked amazing, a soup special that I was told was awesome.

I have to say that if I am ever craving Italian food and not in the mood for a super fancy experience, Vito’s is the place that I will be visiting from now on. Food and service were both great. And that is from a picky Italian, lol.
