Lunch at White Street Pizza – Review

Recently, White Street Pizza expanded from just dinner service to also serving lunch. While they are not making pizzas for lunch, YET, they are whipping up some amazing sandwiches and salads. Salad options are a Lunch Caprese and a Lunch Caesar. And, while these both sound amazing, I had to go with one of their sandwiches on my latest visit. Options include: Roast Beef, Reuben, Turkey Bacon, Meatball Sub, BLT, and Fish Sandwich.

The Lunch Was A Simple Menu But Amazing!

It was tough to make a decision, because I literally wanted to try them all, but I decided on the hot Roast Beef sandwich. Served on a hoagie roll piled high with shaved roast beef, grilled mushrooms and onions and topped with melted provolone. It also comes with horseradish aioli which I asked for on the side and they accommodated. This sandwich was huge, so I only ended up eating half of it even though my tastebuds would have happily enjoyed more. The other half went to my better half. 🙂 This may have been the best roast beef sandwich that I have ever eaten. The meat was lean and flavorful and the veggies were grilled to perfection. Melted provolone enhanced the flavors. Even though it was tasty, I used the aioli sparingly as it really wasn’t needed. My husband was only going to try a bite of my sandwich, but it was so good that he devoured the rest, even after eating his own sandwich.

My husband Capt. Steven Lamp and our friend Capt. Abi who is also a Key West Fishing Guide both ordered the Turkey Bacon sandwich. Served on home made white bread, smoked turkey, crispy bacon and Swiss cheese are piled high and accompanied by lettuce, tomato and mayo. After first bites, they both said. “OMG this sandwich is amazing!” Everything was fresh and flavorful and the bacon was crispy which I personally love.

Sandwiches come with your choice of kettle cooked chips, fruit salad, or potato salad. We tried all three and they are all delicious. For dessert, we decided to share a tiramisu because it is supposed to be the best. All of the ingredient for it are imported from Italy, so it was no surprise that it was the most delicious tiramisu that I have had on this side of the Atlantic. The lady fingers were soaked in espresso just long enough to make them moist but not mushy. And, the mascarpone filling was so light and flavorful that it was like heaven. A dusting of dark chocolate elevated this special dessert.

I really enjoyed the turkey bacon sandwich with potato salad. At first I was put out having to go all the way downtown to eat lunch. This was well worth the drive! I typically do not care for tiramisu but this was a fantastic desert. The place is super comfortable and very nice. I will be sending all my clients and friends here. – Capt. Steven

White Street Pizza serves beer and wine, but we stuck with waters with our lunch. They get two thumbs up, for both lunch and dinner here!
