Restaurant Review: Sunset Grille

Sunset Grille is located at the south end of Marathon on Knight’s Key. We ate lunch here a few days ago with some friends and we were really impressed with the food and the great layout. This is an open air tiki bar / restaurant with a pool overlooking the ocean and the 7 mile bridge. In fact the only thing that bothered us was that the beautiful vistas of the ocean to the south was partially obstructed by a huge screen which they use to show sporting events. I wish they would have put up a retractable screen instead.

Sunset Grille has a wide variety of frozen drinks. I got a pina colada and it was very tasty. For appetizers we got the fish dip and the calamari. Both were good, but not out of this world. For lunch I got the caesar salad with blackened hogfish, my friend Ana got the calamari salad, and the guys both got the Cuban sandwich with fries.

My salad was awesome! the perfect size with not too much dressing and the hogfish fillet was a really nice size. And the fact that they had hogfish, which was cooked perfectly by the way, was a treat. Ana also enjoyed her salad, which was huge! Both the guys really enjoyed their sandwiches as well.

Our service was not bad, but our waitress, Eileen, seemed a little scattered. But the hostess was awesome and gave us several menu recommendations.

I don’t eat in Marathon often but this is a place that when we are in the area again I’ll make sure to stop and get a bite.
