Roostica Wood-Fire Pizzeria | Review

Roostica, Bobby and Michelle Mongelli’s newest restaurant venture, is now opened serving lunch and dinner. Like The Hogfish Bar and Grill, Roostica is located on Stock Island as well in the same building as the Dolphin Deli. The renovations that Bobby has made to the building are amazing. From the outside the place looks deceivingly small, but inside to is amazing. Very roomy and warm with music playing discreetly in the background.

The menu has a number os appetizers, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and pastas. The pizzas are personal sized with an assortment of traditional Italian toppings such as tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, peppers, sausage, salami, prosciutto, eggplant, etc.  This being Key West, they also have a Cuban inspired pizza as well as a lobster pizza and a clam pizza.

In addition, Roostica has a full menu of beverages including a very nice selection of beer and wine. They have sparkling wines, whites, and reds as well as some great beers on draught such as Peroni, Stella and a number of craft beers.

We tried the pizza roostica along with the antipasto for two. Both were tasty. The roostica pizza has tomato, mozzarella, sausage, onion, mushrooms, and peppers on it. The antipasto was indeed big enough for two, piled high with two types of Italian meats, two types of Italian cheeses, marinated artichokes, roasted peppers, bread, and olives. The fig and prosciutto white pizza looked intriguing, so I think that is what I will order on my next visit. Along with the Italian cheesecake.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the service is very good. We recognized some of the staff from the Hogfish, and I think that they are grateful to be in the air conditioning this time of year. This is a great place to stop off for lunch or a quick dinner.
