White Tarpon Deli
White Tarpon Deli

After an intense morning at spin class, my friend Pam and I were in much need of some coffee and nourishment, so we headed over to the White Tarpon for some breakfast. Located at the A&B Marina, 700 Front Street, you can grab a bite to go or you can sit at one of the tables outside in the shade overlooking the big sport fishing boats docked there.

After ordering our food at the counter, we went outside and made ourselves comfortable. The staff brought us our food out about 10 minutes later. I got the breakfast special which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. I also got a cafe con leche which was perfect. And so was the rest of the food. The amount of food was enough to be filling without gorging yourself. And it prepared perfectly too; eggs fluffy, bacon crisp, potatoes tender and well seasoned.

In addition to what I ordered, White Tarpon has a nice selection of other options such as pastries, salads, and sandwiches. The brie and fruit plate looked great and that might have to be my next order.

I have to say that while the staff was helpful, there was a definite language barrier. For instance, when I was ordering my food I was asked what kind of toast I wanted; I said rye. Apparently they have no rye bread, which I thought odd for a deli, but the girl had never even heard of it. I settled on wheat which was just fine for me. Little issues like this can be annoying and a nuisance if you are in a hurry and in need of a quick meal. Luckily we were there to relax, and the outdoor atmosphere was perfect. Even in the 90 plus degree heat that morning, everything was nice and cool in the shade of the brick edifice.

The White Tarpon Deli sells beer and wine as well. They open at 6am and close at 10pm, so if you are staying at one of the nearby properties or have a charter departing from A&B, this is a perfect place to get breakfast or a boxed lunch for your charter.
