I recently went to a private event at Firefly which is located in what used to be Columbian Grace Restaurant on Petronia Street, just down the street from Blue Heaven and the Creperie. Typically when I attend these types of events the food served is not necessarily indicative to the usual fare. However, Firefly actually had tapas sized portions of selections from their actual menu out so I was very excited to be able to try several items.

The first thing that I tried was their homemade mac and cheese. This was decadent and delicious, and I was tempted to go back for a third helping.

Their BLT made with house made bacon was amazing, if you are a lover of BLT’s. The crusts were cut off of the white bread and the bacon was crispy and not chewy which would have been a no go for me.

I did not try the deviled eggs, but they must have been great because my hubby helped himself to about six of these.

The jalapeño cornbread was amazing; the jalapeños were not overbearing but gave it only a slight bite which even someone that does not do spicy can handle.

The BBQ duck wings were tasty, and a nice departure from the usual chicken wings.

Firefly also has a very nice selection of beers and wines to choose from at their bar.

The inside of the restaurant is beautifully remodeled and it offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I have to say that even inside it was extremely hot and somewhat uncomfortable, but I am hoping that it was only because the entire venue was taken up by this event and they purposely had all of the doors open. Based on my experience I think that I would forgo eating here again in the summertime and wait until the weather cools down so that the experience would be more bearable.

Firefly is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to 10:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Brunch is served until 3:00 pm every day. Drinks and snacks are available at the bar from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Supper is served from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
