Did you know that there are more than 40 art galleries on our tiny island of Key West?! Here is a comprehensive list of those galleries along with a brief description of the types of art that they carry and where they are located on our little island. This will be helpful for those of you that were visiting, found that piece of art that you fell in love with but didn’t buy, then went home and realized that you cannot live without it! You would not believe how often that happens!

Blue-Turtle Gallery – A stone church, circa 1928 is home to Teresa Willis and other local artists’ original oils, drawings and sculpture. Willis’ work is inspired by local flora and fauna. Cocco and Salem Imagine Art – Cocco and Salem Imagine Art exhibits some of Key West’s most respected artists: Jim Salem, Dan Cocco, Michael Haykin, Marylene Proner, Judith Zabar and more. Open Daily. 1111 Duval St., Key West.

Fleming Street Gallery – Stop by to see our ever changing shows of original fine art by local and nationally known artists. Our intimate gallery in the heart of Old Town is an oasis of unique artistic expression. Open daily 10 to 6 during season and by appointment. 830 Fleming St.

Frangipani Gallery – The fine art of Fran Decker and friends. The Keys’ flavor is captured in lush paintings, sculptures, ceramics and tropical stained glass. Gingerbread Square Gallery – Key West’s Premier and Oldest Gallery. Established in1974. Paintings, graphics, sculpture, art glass, jewelry. Guild Hall Gallery – Key West’s largest co-op gallery established 1976 showcases 25 local artists. Something for everyone: paintings, jewelry, photography, glass work, sculpture, metalwork & more. Classes and exhibit space available. Beading classes

Haitian Art Co. – Established in 1977. All art is original and directly from artists in Haiti. Paintings, flat metal sculptures, beadwork purses, bottles and spirit flags. Recommended by travel guides. Operated by founder and owner wife, Boris and Marie Coine Kravitz. 1100 Truman Ave.

Hands On – A respite from the ordinary, featuring sophisticated art-to-wear, contemporary artisan jewelry and the finest of American Craft gifts and accessories. Open daily 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. 1206 Duval St.

Harrison Gallery – Helen Harrison and musician/author, Ben Harrison, opened their studio/gallery in 1986. Featured are a select group of fine artists and Helen’s unique sculptures influenced by life in the tropics. Honest Works Island Pottery Co. – A vibrant community art center and working pottery studio offering art classes, open studio time and private instruction by owners Kelly Lever and Adam Russell. Island Arts Co-op Gallery – Unique and creative variety of fine arts and crafts, paintings, prints, jewelry, copper, enamel, fused glass, photography, lobster trap picture frames, native wood sculpture by all local artists. Open Daily 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM. 1128 Duval Street.

Island Style Gallery – Extraordinary one-of-a-kind American arts and contemporary crafts by a select group of exceptional artists. Mary O’Shea’s Glass Garden – Fresh caught Key West art! Mary hand makes everything from dishes to fishes and eye catching jewelry. Always something new and different.

Nativa Art – “The Faces of the Islands” Key West artist “CAM”, fuses Caribbean and Tribal culture with Picasso style and color to create unique originals, lithographs and prints. This tiny shop at Greene and Elizabeth streets is in the Lazy Way shops at Schooner Wharf, just 2 blocks from Duval St.

Sculpture Key West – 15 January – 15 April 2011 – Contemporary sculpture exhibition at three venues: Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden, Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, Key West Garden Club at West Martello Tower.

SoDu Gallery – In the heart of the South Duval Arts District, a dynamic partnership of women artists for artists offers one-of-a-kind contemporary paintings, jewelry, photographs, pottery, painted objects, furniture, glass and more. Open daily 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. 1102B Duval St.

The Studios of Key West – Connect with the vibrant cultural life of the island at TSKW. Located at the restored Historic Armory building, the multi-use creative space houses working artist studios, exhibi- tions, and an outdoor sculpture garden. Wild Side Gallery – A diverse gathering of artists that creates a special shopping experience. Over 40 artists on display, drawing on local talent as well as friends in other states.
