After a busy morning in the office, we were starving. Delivery to Stock Island is limited, and tired of the same old, we decided to try something different. Having never eaten at Kim’s Cuban, we gave them a call and placed out order. Lila ordered the chicken soup and a cheese toast and I ordered a chicken burrito and a homemade rice pudding. It seemed like forever before they showed up with the food, but that was probably be because we were famished! Answering phones and emails is hard work!
Unpacking the meal, the chicken soup was a really nice sized portion and the burrito was enormous. But the rice pudding was missing. We gave them a call and about 15 minutes later they were back with another bag containing the rice pudding; more on that later!
Lila said that her chicken soup was very good, and liked the addition of cilantro to it. I personally love cilantro, so I am sure that I would have love that soup! And you cannot go wrong with Cuban bread with butter and cheese; this was delicious. Try adding jalapeños if you like spicy!!
My burrito tasted fine and was very filling. I only ate about a quarter of it, it was so large. But I was disappointed with this choice. It was basically a rice burrito with a very little bit of beans and chicken mixed in.
Now, for the rice pudding… I opened the bag and the homemade rice pudding was not homemade at all. I was kind of upset so I didn’t even end up eating it. Lila ate it two days later and she said that it tasted good but it had the consistency of clay and that it gave her a stomach ache. I guess I dodged a bullet there.
For the amount of food that you get for the price it is a pretty good deal for breakfast or lunch.
