Ocean’s Edge Resort & Oceanside Marina

The famed Oceanside Marina located on Stock Island (a 5 minute drive to Key West) has gone through many transformations through the years, but none so big as the most recent one which totally changed the face of the property to a new, totally modern and tropical paradise inclusive of a gorgeous resort.

When I first moved to the Florida Keys over 20 years ago, Oceanside Marina was the place to charter out of. It held more world records for fishing than any other marina. My husband, Capt. Steven Lamp guided out of here for many years; he moved his operation across the island to Sunset Marina while Oceanside was going through its growing pains. But with major construction now done, he has moved part of his operation back to Oceanside to get back to his roots. While major work has been done for awhile now at the property, there are still some upgrades being done. For instance, they have enclosed the restaurant and air conditioned it. So now, when it is very hot or very stormy, the restaurant will be closed up and protected. But when we have that perfect tropical weather, the restaurant can be opened up to enjoy the climate.

Oceans Edge Resort Pool, one of six one property!

My husband and I actually had the pleasure of staying at Ocean’s Edge Resort a few months back while we were getting some work done on our house. I have to say that even though I was not on vacation, staying here certainly made it feel like I was. The scenery is beautiful; one can gaze at the crystal blue Atlantic Ocean and the majestic sport fishing boats that line the docks. Guests can exercise at the gym if so inclined; oh and they have a Peloton bike which is something that I am a huge fan of! The resort fee gives guests access to on site complimentary kayak, paddle board and bike rentals. There are six pools on property to enjoy. And one can relax with a drink or enjoy a delicious meal at the Yellowfin Bar. Plus, there is hourly shuttle service to downtown Key West and back.

And, I did not even get to the rooms yet! They were spacious and nicely decorated. I loved going out onto the balcony and enjoying the view. Beds are comfy and there is ample room to relax if you want, but with so much to experience on property, it is hard to stay in the room for too long!

Keeping a boat at Oceanside Marina again gives me a feeling of nostalgia. But with the property makeover, I also enjoy spending time there and taking in the scene. The one thing that can mar the relaxation of the property are the Navy jets that fly overhead during the day sometimes, but even that is fascinating to watch and makes me proud to be an American!

So, coming to Key West? I would seriously think about staying at Ocean’s Edge Resort. There is a lot to enjoy here. The property is pet friendly too, so if you are bringing your best friend down with you, this is the perfect place. And if you are fishing on the InXS with us, definitely consider staying here!
