Key West’s historic seaport has been a pivotal spot for the island’s industry for hundreds of years. In the early days of Key West, it was the epicenter for fishing, shrimping, sponging, and turtling. Today, modern day shops and restaurants line the port. Mac’s Sea Garden has been a favorite seaport stop of mine since I first moved here nearly thirty years ago. While through the years it has become more commercial, it is still a fun place to visit, and a great place to find a souvenir. And, don’t forget to take a selfie with the huge Spongeman right outside! Here are some places to enjoy a meal or cool drink at Key West’s Historic Seaport.
Bars & Restaurants
BO’s Fish Wagon – This open air shack serves up fish sandwiches and other grub. Years ago, famed poet Shel Silverstein could be found writing at one of the tables as he lived in the area.
Boat House – This local’s favorite is known for its happy hour deals and tasty food.
Conch Republic Seafood Company – This is one of my favorite places to grab frozen concoction when downtown.
Cuban Coffee Queen – Another local’s favorite for their Cuban coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
Half Shell Raw Bar – A one time shrimp packing location which now serves up fresh local seafood.
Schooner’s Wharf – Quintessential Key West dive bar serving up food and hosting many musicians.
Fisherman’s Cafe – Walk up booth when you can get breakfast or lunch.
Waterfront Brewery – Once home to the Waterfront Market, this is now a huge brewery and restaurant with a game room. Best of all, it is air conditioned!
