The Turtle Hospital may make Key West its New Home!

Monday, the Truman Waterfront Advisory Board listened to the staff  of the Marathon based Turtle Hospital regarding moving their facility to the city owned Truman Waterfront.

The Turtle Hospital manager told board members that their operation has released over 2,500 turtles since 1986. It is estimated that the move to the Truman Waterfront would show an increase in visitors to their facility leading to more funds available to rescue more turtles, and eventually, reach their long term goal of learning more about turtles and why they get sick.

The addition of the Turtle Hospital to the Truman Waterfront would make a great fit, as it is already home to the Eco-Discovery Center and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Lets hope that it works out for the Turtle Hospital!
