Located on Front Street, two friends patio has been around since 1967. It has a very old Florida feel to it with casual dining available inside and outside. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and my friend Pam and I headed over there for breakfast. We opted to sit outside because it was still early and it happened to be a beautiful day. The hostess was nice and promptly seated us at our choice of tables and handed us some menus to peruse.
The first thing that Pam and I both noticed is that the front of the menu was all breakfast and the back was all alcoholic beverages. While I know other diners were ordering pina coladas, mimosas, and bloody Mary’s, we went with plain old coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice since we both had to head to work later on in the day. And even though we are in Florida finding fresh squeezed orange juice anywhere is a real treat, so I had to get it.
Our waiter was not a bad server, but we got the distinct feeling off of him that he did not want to be working. In any event, he kept our coffees topped off and that is a plus.
They had a couple of specials which included a seafood omlette and blueberry pancakes, but we opted for regular menu items. Pam ordered the veggie omelette with a bagel and I ordered eggs Benedict, substituting regular bacon for Canadian bacon. I did ponder getting the crab Benedict or the shrimp and crabmeat quiche, but bacon was calling my name. And Pam thought about the pancakes which looked amazing, but we wanted something a little on the lighter side, and no one can call pancakes light.
The food was brought out promptly and was prepared just right. There is nothing worse with eggs Benedict than undercooked or overcooked eggs, and these were done just right. The coffee was good too, not too strong and not too weak.
Two Friends serves breakfast daily from 8am until noon, lunch from 11am until 4pm, and dinner from 4pm to closing. The lunch and dinner menus are similar to those you would see at other seafood restaurants throughout Florida, with items like broiled or fried seafood platters, soups, salads, burgers, and fish sandwiches. The food is not gourmet, but it is a hearty food that you can enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere.
