Pescado Review
Pescado is a food truck that prepares American and Mexican-style seafood dishes such as fish tacos and fried shrimp. But, landlubbers and vegetarians can delight in the menu as well as there are options for everyone’s differing palates. Since 2019, this family-owned operation has built up a cult following of downtown locals looking for delicious and fast food seafood. And now, breakfast too! Lead by owner Jose Luis who you will find here serving up food with a smile most days.
Pescado Location
Everyone who lives in Key West knows where the downtown Chevron gas station is located. But, for those who do not, you can find it, and Pescado, at 1126 Truman Ave. Located in the gas station parking lot, Pescado has shaded seating and a fan blowing cool air on diners on not so cool days. It was actually comfortable eating here on a hot July day.
The Food
With so many options it was difficult to choose what to get here. Yes, Pescado specializes in seafood, but they also offer breakfast and options for landlubbers and vegetarians as well.
We ordered chips and guacamole to share. I prefer a guacamole that is a bit more chunky, but this was still a yummy start to the meal.
I decided to go with the chicken bowl which had blackened chicken with rice, beans, salad, guacamole, and pico. It was a huge bit of food and the chicken was really good. Not overcooked at all and well seasoned.
Steven went with a burrito which was a good size and he enjoyed. It was served with a side of crinkle fries.
With so many options, I cannot wait to try something else from the menu soon!
More About Key West
Pescado is open Monday through Saturday from 9am until 10pm. You can order online for pick up or you can eat there if you prefer. If you do opt to eat here, I promise that you will enjoy talking to Jose Luis who obviously loves what he does and was so very nice to talk to.
