I love food. I enjoy both cooking and eating out. The highlight of my day is typically what I will be consuming. I normally eat very healthy meals that are still…
Last night we had dinner with some friends at Benihana. In case you are unfamiliar with this chain, it is a Japanese hibachi and sushi restaurant, known both for its food and the entertainment of the chefs preparing the food right in front of you.
We arrived at 6pm without reservations, and while the restaurant was practically empty, we still had to wait 25 minutes for a table. Our group sat at the bar and had a drink to pass the time. The bartender was awesome and the drinks on the menu were original and very yummy. I had a coconut sakitini which was amazing. (more…)
My husband and I decided to take the motorcycle downtown this past Saturday night on the spur of the moment. When we made it downtown we decided to get a bite to eat somewhere. I suggest sushi at Origami located in Duval Square. They have parking and outdoor seating and the weather was just perfect. There are so many places to eat in Key West, however do you choose which restaurants to try during your visit? Maybe this list will help. We have chosen restaurants of all different types to fit anyone’s palate or desires. As most of my readers know by now, I am a little bit of a foodie, or as my husband puts it, a food snob. So now you have someplace to take that fresh fish that you caught on your fishing trip with Dream Catcher Charters or one of our other talented colleagues to get prepared island style! (more…)
My BFF”s birthday was Thursday so to celebrate she wanted to go to her favorite sushi restaurant, Ambrosia. When we got there at 7pm there was nobody there yet, but as the evening progressed the place became packed. Moral, make a reservation to eat here, lol.
Ambrosia is located at the Santa Marina Suites on Simonton Street. The decor is very modern and sleek.
When we first arrived we sat at the bar for a little bit and got a drink. Saki, sakitinis, beer. The sakitinis are the bartender’s version of a martini, but made with saki instead of vodka. I had a white peach sakitini that was delicious, if not a bit sweet. But after one I was good with water the rest of the evening. (Typically I order plumb wine which is also a sweet wine that I adore, but I decided to go with something different since other members of our group got sakitinis too. The bartender was fantastic (sorry cannot remember his name). (more…)
