This past New Year’s Eve, my husband and I decided to go with some friends to one of our favorite Key West restaurants, Nine One Five. We have eaten here many, many times and have never once had a bad meal, until New Year’s Eve that is. It was a special fixe price menu ($100 per person), and the menu looked amazing. Unfortunately, the food was not. At least the service was good as was the atmosphere.

Located at MM 22.5 on Cudjoe Key, Square Grouper Bar and Grill has been a favorite restaurant of mine, and many other locals, since its opening. While the bar does not serve liquor, it has a fine list of wines and microbrews, and you will find that the bar is almost always packed with locals socializing and enjoying a unique brew, and sometimes having a bite as well. If you do plan on visiting the Southernmost City this holiday season, here is how you can expect to ring in the New Year. (more…)
Last night we had dinner with some friends at Benihana. In case you are unfamiliar with this chain, it is a Japanese hibachi and sushi restaurant, known both for its food and the entertainment of the chefs preparing the food right in front of you.
We arrived at 6pm without reservations, and while the restaurant was practically empty, we still had to wait 25 minutes for a table. Our group sat at the bar and had a drink to pass the time. The bartender was awesome and the drinks on the menu were original and very yummy. I had a coconut sakitini which was amazing. (more…)
“Radar” Rob, Indiana Bones and I headed downtown this afternoon to grab lunch at Blue Heaven. Neither of us had been there in awhile so were were really looking forward to it. Finding parking nearby is a real pain. We ended up parking in a lot a couple of blocks away for $10, but I would suggest just take a cab and totally eliminate the pain of parking. (more…)
December is here and I for one cannot believe that Christmas is already upon us. While Key West may never have a white Christmas, they sure do celebrate the holiday…
