Croissants de France, located at 816 Duval Street, has a bakery and an open-air bistro on grounds serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. The pastry chefs are classically trained and the offerings at the bistro are amazing. This is by far our favorite breakfast stop on the island.
Breakfast is served daily until 4:30 pm and the French specialties such as crepes, Benedicts, and galettes are mouthwatering.
My breakfast of choice here is typically the Americanos which is an open faced butter croissant topped with three scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage, and a side of whole grain mustard sauce which is heavenly. And, the portions are generous. I cannot remember ever completely finishing my entire plate here.
The brie platter is fresh and delicious if you like this mild cheese. And the omelets are huge, fluffy, and very tasty. The French Toast Brioche is another yummy selection for those of you with a sweeter taste, as are many of the crepe options. I prefer mine plain with some maple syrup, but the Choc-a-berry which is filled with chocolate mousse is a favorite among diners. I am just afraid that I would be in a comma after eating that first thing in the morning.
There are many other items on the menu that I have yet to try, but they look decadent. Quiches, salads, soups, and entrees like beef bourguignon, chicken cordon blue, and seafood specials round out this amazing menu.
The coffee selection is good as well. It is strong and smooth, and you can choose from american coffee, cappuccino, and cafe au lait.
The bistro is all outdoor with a huge lime tree providing plenty of shade so that you are cool and comfortable year round. The service is always good too. And, the dining area is pet friendly so Indiana Bones always joins us when we come here.
