Frenchie’s Cafe | Review

Frenchie’s Cafe veggie quiche is amazingly tasty!

One day a few months ago I was walking around downtown and I spied this little cafe on United Street. It was closed at the time, but I decided that I would try Frenchie’s Cafe one day soon. Well that day came this past weekend, and all I can say is that I wish I would have tried it sooner!

Frenchie’s Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You can eat at one of the six or so tables on site, you can get your food to go, or you can get it delivered! For such a small place, they offer a large menu of everything from french pastries to sandwiches and salads to quiches. And of course a bevy of coffee options.

I ordered a cafe au lait and the Idaho quiche which was made up of potatoes, onions, bacon, and cheese. However, the Idaho quiche was already gone so I went with the veggie quiche instead.

The coffee that Frenchie’s Cafe serves is good and much stronger than you will get at most places; appropriately enough it reminded me of what is served in Europe.

The veggie quiche was a surprise. I was not expecting anything mind blowing with a veggie quiche as I am a bacon lover and was slightly disappointed that the Idaho quiche was already gone. But this was probably a blessing in disguise as the veggie quiche was easily the best quiche I have ever tasted. It was like the most delicious ratatouille served in a light quiche form. And the accompanying salad was a nice pairing adding freshness to the warm dish.

I also ordered an almond croissant to go which I enjoyed for breakfast the next morning. Even though I did not eat it right away, the croissant was still flaky and light and the filling was  spread out evenly and it was delicious without being overly sweet.

So now that I am hungry and drooling from writing this review, I think I am going to head back to Frenchie’s Cafe and repeat my last order.
