Old Town Trolley v. Conch Tour Train: Which Tour is Best?

When people ask me what they should do in Key West, I tell them a tour on the Trolley or the Train would be a good first thing to do. This is especially so if this is a first time visit to Key West. Both tours give customers a good history of the island, point out many locations of interest, and really set the stage for how to spend time on the island. But what are the differences and which is best?

Old Town Trolley

This is a fully narrated, hop on hop off tour around the entire island of Key West. The trolley makes thirteen stops, so riders can jump off at any of these and hop on another trolley whenever they are ready to continue the tour. Trolleys run about every 30 minutes, so the wait is never very long. And tickets are good all day long, from 10am until 4:30pm. The full loop around the island is about 90 minutes long if riders don’t want to hop on and off.

Conch Tour Train

This is a fully narrated tour around the old town historical district of Key West.  The tour makes four stops where passengers have the option to get on and off.  Trains will come back to each stop approximately every 30 minutes.  The tour is about 1 hour and 10 minutes long without hopping and and off.  Tickets are good for the entire day from 10:15am to 4:15pm.
