Key West Higgs Beach Dog Park

With so many dog friendly businesses on the island, Key West is a pretty dog friendly vacation spot. One of my favorite spots to go with my dog, Indiana Bones, is the Higgs Beach Dog Park.

The dog park is just a part of the sixteen and a half acre Higgs Beach. You will also find the West Martello Civil War Era Fort, Salute! Café, an African Refugee Burial Ground and an Aids Memorial. So, lots to do here. Plus the view is not bad at all!

Broken into two sections for large and small dogs, we of course always go to the small dog section of the Higgs Beach Dog Park where dogs 25 pounds and under are welcome. Each section of the park has water for the dogs, garbage cans, poop bags, and seating.

Typically you will find a bunch of locals hanging out here with their dogs, but visitors are more than welcome to join in on the fun. There are a few rules though, such as:

  • Pets need to be vaccinated.
  • Owners must clean up after their pets.
  • Aggressive pets are not allowed.
  • Pets in heat are not allowed.
