Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Key West with Mexican Food

Today is Cinco de Mayo, so let’s celebrate with some of my favorite fare, Mexican food! Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, oh my! I love it all! Many restaurants on the island of Key West have Mexican inspired dishes. But, there are only a handful of Mexican restaurants. Below is a list of those to choose from.

Taco Express – Corner of Cross St. And, Suncrest Rd.

Open Monday through Friday from 6am until 7pm and Saturday from 7am until 5pm, this little food truck serves up salads, combination platters, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, and sandwiches. It is difficult to park here, but they do offer delivery.

Chico’s Cantina – 5230 US Hwy 1.

Inside and patio dining available at this locals favorite. They serve up all types of traditional Mexican fare with a few gringo specials. While they do serve margaritas, they only have a beer and wine license, so they are made with a tequila based wine rather than actual tequila. I still think they taste divine.

Kim’s Kuban – 2302 N Roosevelt Blvd.

This little eatery offers Cuban and Mexican food. You can eat in the snug little dining room or order for takeout or delivery.

Old Town Mexican Cafe – 609 Duval St.

Open daily for lunch and dinner, this place serves up Mexican food as well as delicious drinks to enjoy in a nice, shaded patio setting.

Taco Bell – 2338 N Roosevelt Blvd.

No need to elaborate here. We are all familiar with this fast food joint serving up Mexican inspired fare.

Amigo’s Tortilla Bar – 425 Greene St.

Open daily from noon until 10 pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. Serving Mexican food and a full bar to help wash it down.

La Michoacán’s Key West Mexican Ice Cream – 813 Peacock Plza.

Open Monday through Saturday from 2pm until 9pm. Enjoy Mexican ice cream, snow cones, shakes, snacks, and more! Defiantly a place to go for a guilty pleasure!

Sinz Burritos – 500 Truman Ave.

Open Monday through Saturday from 11am until 8 pm, Sinz offers tacos and burritos, street tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, and of course, chips, salsa, and guacamole. They aLso have a large variety of American and a Mexican sodas to enjoy with your sinfully delicious food. You will find a vast variety of fillings to make any carnivore or vegetarian happy.
